About the Artist

Karina Solis

Born in Mexico City, Karina's artistic journey began at age six, ignited by her father's early guidance. Now a self-taught painter based in Kansas City, she's learning to find her voice within her work and has had her pieces featured in several local exhibits. Her diverse practice is fueled by a deep belief in art's many facets, a concept she finds mirrored in her engagement with various martial arts. Though many of her pieces venture into the realm of surrealism, Karina prefers to define her practice by its expansive nature. She's continuously exploring abstract compositions and experimenting with the unique qualities of charcoal. For Karina, the act of creation is a vital, therapeutic endeavor - a space where she navigates the complexities of emotion and taps into her innermost thoughts, fostering profound healing and a clearer path to self-understanding.
